The main components of windows

Many people dream of a French window overlooking the garden, or panoramic glazing from ceiling to floor. Taking care of large windows is no longer difficult. But still there are requirements for the size of windows, and their design has undergone major changes in recent years.

Optimal illumination is achieved if the total width of all windows is 55% of the width of the walls of the room. Windows that are too large can cause a feeling of insecurity. It is better if the window sill is located at a height of 0.90-1.00 m from the floor. In this case, it is convenient to look out the window while sitting on a chair or in an armchair.

The upper border of the window is located 20 cm below the ceiling level, window lintels are built in there, curtains are hung, etc. The windows themselves today have a modern design, are made of aluminum, plastic profiles and wood, and the design differs significantly from their traditional double-leaf predecessors. But any window still consists of a frame, sashes and fittings.

The frame is a fixed part of the window, it is attached to the wall in the window opening. The doors can swing open in the usual way. Modern windows open by rotating the sash around an axis, horizontal, vertical or in different directions. The sash can also be hinged.

The double-glazed window is held on the sash by means of a bead. A special device on the outside of the sash (low tide) prevents water from entering inside. If the structure consists of several flaps, then it is equipped with an impost (crossbar) supporting the flaps. You will not see locking latches on modern windows, they are closed with a handle.

Windows are often equipped with fixed, or "blind" sashes. Sometimes, for example, in panoramic windows, the glass is held not on the sashes, but on the frames. Although a rectangular window with a size of 80* 130 cm is considered ideal, large windows, for example, French ones, are still gaining popularity.

The French window is more likely to belong to the types of doors, since it descends to the floor and through it you can access the surrounding area. The profile for the manufacture of such a "window" is more often used aluminum, since the structure needs strength. The doors can be sliding. Thermal insulation profiles are used in cool climates.

Thermal insulation is provided by the features of the double-glazed window. The glasses are fixed in the sashes in 2-3 layers, the air layer between them serves as a good thermal insulator. To prevent moisture from entering the double-glazed window, the joints of the glasses with the sash frame are filled with mastic. To improve thermal insulation, double–glazed windows are filled with transparent gas - argon, xenon and others. f88bet
